Among the most elusive of dragon breeds are the Aeon Wyverns, a breed whose innate control over time mana marks them singular and great. They are able to peer into the multi-dimensional plane of time, seeing all that is, all that has been, and all that could be—within a small localized zone. When utilizing particularly strong magic, the black markings carved into an Aeon’s body glow a bright cyan, painting them in an ethereal blue light. In the past, they have been sought after as oracles to bring swift resolutions to major conflicts, but it is in exactly such sorts of times that they are nowhere to be found; rather than influence the outcome, Aeons much prefer to allow the natural order of things to progress, however grim that may be.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Foretime emerges from wherever-he-is once every two weeks to submit his research via the Sizable Courier and check mail, and he does so with a flourish and flash of teal, in case anybody's watching. Other dragons and humans are curious what he does, but he says they'll find out when it's published. "It's about history" is all he'll say. He also doesn't divulge what name he uses, and none of the other scholars and writers have seen any pamphlets, essays, treatises, novels, or anything else with a name like "Foretime" on it. Some people wonder whether he's actually researching or not, but his bookishness and enthusiasm for subjects many others find too esoteric for them do hint that he's not merely pretending to be smart.
