And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Kaliedas and her Christmassy family make sugar plums and fruitcake in December, and she's one of the younger members assigned to bring them to the lucky recipients when they've finished a batch. These two treats are made almost entirely out of luxury items—butter, spices, sugar, nuts, and candied fruit—and are very difficult to acquire and keep. Most humans must be very skilled or very rich to have a fruitcake and a few dozen sugar plums once a year, yet Kaliedas happily gives the delicacies out come Christmas, especially to families who cannot afford them. She's a jovial spirit while cooking and doing her rounds, but for the rest of the year, while helping to grow, gather, and store all of the ingredients, she's serious and has little to say, even to her closest kin.
