Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hemimorpeth IceDance (after the gemstone: Hemimorphite) is the 58th clan dragon, and from the instant of her creation, has displayed a dazzling propensity for the sculpting and shaping of ice. As a hatchling, adopted during the clan's first winter, she gathered tiny balls of snow and ice, and then used her still soft claws to dig out and create miniature figurines. Her talents have grown since those first few awkward breakables, and she has gained a rather grand reputation as the clan's premiere artisan and sculptor. For most of the year, she rests, enjoying long days of quiet slumber, but when the winds of time begin to blow cold, and the world turns from green to white, she emerges to begin another season of endless days and nights, crafting gigantic blocks of ice into the most amazing likenesses of the previous year's newest clan additions. By the time the snow begins to melt, exhausted but satisfied, she returns to the clan cave to wait for yet another year to pass.
