Golden Wyverns are known for their beautiful metallic scales and rumored magical abilities. Living high in the mountains, these dragons do not believe in killing for sport or pleasure. They will hunt only when hungry and defend themselves when provoked, but will avoid killing to the best of their abilities. Golden Wyverns often mingle with other dragons of similar color and take pride in their shimmering hide.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Prince Kieran was brought into the cave nearly mature. The human who manages the dragons of his cave had four other hatchlings of his species, but three of them were identified as females. So two of the hatchlings were brought out of the cave to seek a human who was willing to adopt a female in exchange for a male. Prince Kieran was unidentified, but the human accepted the swap in hopes that the hatchie would be identified as a male. Needless to say, he was.

In his adulthood, prince Kieran has grown to be a very proud dragon. He is well cherished, and treated with great respect and admiration. He a gentle dragon, and is a bit slow to learn new things. Once he catches on, however, he learns fast and proves to be very bright.
