Royal Blue dragons are a nocturnal breed who prefer to live high in the mountains near slow-moving water that reflects the night sky. Although quite capable of defending themselves, they are peaceful by nature and will avoid a fight whenever possible.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Recusal has an air of cheerful uncertainty. He sees the world differently, in a way that no one can really explain, and he writes and tells funny but sometimes terrifying stories that communicate what he sees. His books can be found lovingly tossed in a heap next to the eel bowl. When he was small, he was a self-described "weirdo child" who didn't seem to have any useful life skills, and as an adult, he calls himself a "weirdo man". Recusal often has a look of puzzlement on his face, as if he were pushed into a job he does not know at all how to deal with, despite people saying that he always knows what he's doing. They fondly use the "weirdo man" nickname when referring to him.
