Pumpkin Dragons are a very small breed, named after their affinity for pumpkins. They are always found living inside hollowed-out pumpkins, and are only seen during the harvest season. Young children often hollow out and decorate their pumpkins in the hope that a Pumpkin Dragon will make it his or her home.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Pygmy dragons are the smallest category of dragons, being on the same scale as domesticated animals. They are often found around concentrated populations of dragons, relying on their larger brethren to ward away potential predators and leave scraps. As such, the majority of a pygmy’s diet is scavenged. Due to their tiny size, pygmies do not breed with larger varieties of dragons.

User Description

Lamia just sits in her pumpkin, eyes staring vacantly out at the world. Her mate does everything for her; finds her a new pumpkin each year, spoons a weak soup down her throat every mealtime, then sits and reads to her late into the night. The white dragons have long tried to heal Lamia, but whatever demonic grasp is placed on her mind is just too strong for them to fight off. Something bad occurred, they whisper, as the look in her eyes is that of fear and repulsion, but Lamia has been mute since whatever happened. Her partner, Ianthe, has long tried to find out what it might be in hopes that the cure would be part of the solution, but his efforts have been fruitless. Lamia remains the same. Sometimes she will sigh, and Ianthe will jump up, hoping that his beloved has returned to him, but it always turns out to be an unconscious movement. Ianthe remains by her bedside at all times, talking to her, and keeping her company. Even though he's not sure she actually is there anymore.
