Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Paraskavedekatriaphobia, known as Paras for short, had an unlucky start to life. His mother laid an egg on Friday the 13th and for some reason, his clan was worried he'd be an unlucky dragon because of it. When he hatched on St. Patrick's Day, they began to think that they had misjudged him since nothing truly unlucky could be hatched on such a lucky day. However, that same day, The Storm struck their home, preventing their Scroll Keeper from visiting the clan, and they blamed Paras and his bad luck for it. The other hatchlings became sick, and the clan feared they would perish. Paras was kept away as they tended the hatchlings, and though everyone survived The Storm, the entire clan is still wary of Paras. They believe bad luck will follow him wherever he goes and that he is most unlucky on his birthday: Friday the 13th. Paras has decided to spend his birthday away from the clan, not only to spare them from bad luck, but because now he also fears Friday the 13th.
