Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Aurum Angelus has found a way to ensure that the local population of humans doesn't covet her more for the value of her scales than her formidable but helpful presence. She had noticed that during the winter the village near her cave often sported frail and spindly offspring. In a odd blend of maternal instinct and misguided pity she began to deliver or steer wild prey into the village. This allowed the hunters of that village to justify catching or slaying the animals in the interest of keeping the village safe. Little did she know that because the villagers did not hunt the animals themselves the local lord allowed the practice and the village prospered as never before. Dragon hunters have been known to disappear or be run out of the village if found there or in the surrounding country side, thus she lives protected by her own strange habits.
