And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Kazoo has never been a favorite among the others in the household. Since the other dragons are kept in an empty clearing with barbed wire fences, Kazoo always knew that freedom was never free. He was always a pessimist and never felt at home, he disappointed others with his "selfish" ways. As he started to mature, he wanted to prove that he was worthy when he was an adult, and hurt the other dragons. A nearby dragon overheard his thoughts as he was talking to himself near a dead tree, and scurried off to snitch about it to the owner. Kazoo was frozen and was never able to grow up. The other dragons respect him more than they used to; however, he still feels as if no one cares about him since he was never able to grow into a full adult.
