Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Celtic Holiday is a traitor. She came from a large clan of dragons who all wore 'Celtic' as a title, as if such a phrase made sense. To make things worse, their 'names', as it were, were simply a variant of their breed. Holiday didn't want to be part of such a cult, and ran away before she had a chance to be brainwashed—or whatever allowed the others to be happy living like that. When her wings grew in, the golden feathers assured her she had done the right thing—she felt there was more in them than in the mostly-white plumes of her family. Of course, she was still very much alone, and afraid.

Late one night, what appeared to be a decapitated horse dragon chanced across Holiday. He smelled her fear and calmed her, even dispelling his cranial invisibility spell—a thing he rarely does. Headless Horse was the first dragon to comfort her, letting her know she would never be a nameless face among soulless masses. She quickly fell in love, and has been with him since.
