Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Weak and submissive, Taluana grew up being stepped on by the other vampire dragons in the Clan. Her caretaker, Marafang, was often harsh and cruel to her when she was a hatchling especially since Taluana seemed to lack any ability to communicate whatsoever. She grew up a smaller size than most Vampire Dragons and always felt intimidated by other especially the males. Her lack of speech made her feel cut off from other dragons and it felt she was suffocating trapped in a frail prison.

Alone on a hilltop draining the life from some small prey, Taluana heard a faint echo in her mind. She called back with as much thought she could and was answered. The Vampires that called to Taluana were part of a group called the Legion. She was soon captivated by the many voices that called to her and her telepathy grew stronger. She returned to the others a changed Vampire and a member of the Legion.
