Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.
Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.
User Description
Every New Year in Tastica's cave, a winter dragon is hatched. Their lineage or pedigree is irrelevant, all that matters is the gender. If said dragon genders female, then luck smiles down upon the clans, but if it turns out to be a male, then the clans should be wary of the year ahead. This stemmed from the first dragon, Mince Pie's, longing to have a female winter child, all of her children gendering male. Thus the tradition was formed.
Tricuno was the second of such dragons, her gender signalling that the dawning 2013 would be full of prosperity. Tricuno resents the stress she felt as a hatchling to gender female, and finds the tradition to be sexist and pagan, feeling surprised that such an intelligent species would stoop to such a superstitious method of prediction. Feeling as though she is the cave scapegoat has annoyed Tricuno, as gendering male would have made her responsible for any accidents, while gendering female leaves her blamed for not preventing them.
