Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Onyxellath BlackenHeart (after the gemstone: Onyx) joined the clan cave as its 110th member, the product of a natural, yet precious gift from a strong, prosperous clan. She came to the clan not as an eggling, but instead in her hatchling form and was a force to be reckoned with from the moment of her arrival. She was instantly aware of all eyes upon her, for although The Clan Mother had recently adopted the first Black dragon egg into the clan, it was she who would grow and mature into the first adult of her species. As a youngling, she found the pressure difficult to manage, yet with the constant guidance of The Clan Mother, she eventually proved herself to the clan dragons and began to accept the responsibility of her place in the clan. Not surprising, she formed a special bond with Onyxtrius and the pair share a grand affection for each other, if nothing else. With every step, each breath, and every bit of her heart, she strives to be an honorable, powerful example of dragonkind.
