Magma Dragons are capable of withstanding the intense temperatures of their element. They live in volcanic regions, their bodies coated in the red hot magma which clings to their scales. They must leave the lava fields in order to hunt, although they require surprisingly little food to sustain their lumbering mass.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Obsidina LavaKeep (after the gemstone: Obsidian) became the 95th clan dragon, her egg a gift from a kind and generous caretaker of a clan far across the sea. It is said that although her parents bore several offspring before her, she was the first of their mating to spring forth a natural born magmatic dragon. Like her mother, she thrives in the molten environs deep within the ground, and has taken on the task of providing adequate warmth to the tunnels and alcoves that make up the clan cave above her chosen sanctuary. The clan elders are grateful for her contributions, for the bitter cold of the winter season often causes distress among the egglings. With ease and comfort, she spends most of her time tending to the scorching lava fields to ensure that their flow and heat continues to warm all the clan dragons. In return for her efforts, her clan mates make sure she wants for nothing, be it food or companionship, although few can withstand the blistering temperatures for long.
