As the nocturnal relative to Sunbeam Drakes, Moonglow Drakes are a secretive breed most active under the light of the moons and stars. They are wary of others, but are known to have incredible loyalty should their trust be won. Catching sight of Moonglow Drakes as they dance amid the moonlight is seen as a favorable omen by those they live near, and tamed individuals are common. They are slightly smaller than their cousins, averaging around the size of a cat.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Ulquiorra is a serious and intelligent dragon that knows at least a little of every subject you talk to him about. That is, if you manage to talk to him at all, since he usually never wants to spend time with the ones he calls 'trash', which are the vast majority of dragons in the clan. He had a specially bad relationship with Grimmjow, the Hellfire; because of their conflicting personalities, they didn't get along at all, with the latter always badmouthing the former and trying to drag him into fights, and picking on everyone else when Ulquiorra proved too fast to catch.

Luckily for the rest of the dragons, when Orihime the Day Glory came along, her bubbly personality managed to sneak into Ulquiorra's many barriers, until he realized he had feelings for her. Since then, Ulquiorra started opening up little by little, until he even got to the point of admitting he kind of respected Grimmjow. Although he'd still prefer to be dressed in a pink tutu before letting the Hellfire know.
