It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

S1owo is not particularly fast. Some mistake this for stupidity, especially after one famous incident when someone stepped on his tail and a full day elapsed before he reacted, but he is actually quite intelligent. He spends much of his time exploring and extending the weak telepathic abilities common to the majority of dragonkind, to the point where he has developed unusual abilities. He has an almost desipis-like capacity for manipulating others' thoughts and actions; not strong enough to inflict permanent change, but still effective when he needs to to retaliate against those who try to annoy him. Most often, though, he sits on the riverbank a half-mile upstream of downtown Lloyprij and uses his telekinesis to pull fish out of the water for his meals. The more powerful his psychic powers grow, the less aware of his own body he becomes. Most locals leave him be, and he is happy being alone.
