Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When Evino was little, he didn't watch the sky. Instead, he fixated on the dragons in it, who flew freely and reveled in the joy of flight. He grew envious, so much so that the green of envy stained his scales. He didn't realize that his wings continued to grow, and he didn't practice flapping to prepare his developing muscles for flight. Things changed one day when a young, orphaned nebula chanced into the Clan of Skye. Vysoria was younger than Evino, but since he was weak, they were about equal in flying ability. They almost immediately began challenging each other to out-flap the other, and their rivalry became permanent. To this day, they are constantly getting into races and tests of acrobatics. Evino has better stamina, but is not as good at tight turns. When things get serious, though, Evino drops the one-upping to help. He trusts Vysoria with his life and would willingly sacrifice himself if it meant protecting her. The two are now mates.
