Fire Gem Dragons are a colorful, flamboyant breed often found in hot climates, particularly around active volcanoes. Their broad tails store the flames they breathe, which are colored by the heavy amount of minerals in the water they drink. These dragons come in a variety of colors, and will collect shiny trinkets and stones that match their own coloration. Despite their hoarding tendencies, though, Fire Gem dragons are social and will often congregate in groups and show off their collections while fawning over the stones their friends and rivals have gathered, occasionally arranging trades.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

While fire gems typically are born and raised in hot climates, Raghavan hails from the Coast and prefers the beachside. His egg was found in a tide pool, covered in barnacles, his parents nowhere to be found. It's a wonder the dragon survived and hatched with seemingly no ill effects. In fact, he's had many, many mishaps that should've killed him, from lending some of his scales to a "nice-looking fellow", to cliff-hopping into the ocean on a dare. Raghavan seems to find his fiery tail "inconvenient" and frequently douses the thing without a second thought. When a well-meaning celestial flew him to the nearest mountain range with known fire gem colonies, he complained about the smog and oppressive heat and asked to be taken home. Time and time again, people wonder if there's something wrong with him. Some have even gone on "quests" or studied magical tomes to lift whatever curse is on him.
