Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Le Beau Noir is French, and wants every one to know it. No-one is quite sure how this came to be, given that he is a child of the cave—but he struts around conjugating French verbs, and wearing high fashion bangles round his ankles. Most of the other dragons think it's all vanity, but little Black Ice Crystal idolises him, and follows him around like a little shadow. He finds this quite flattering, but as Black Ice Crystal speaks no French, Le Beau Noir won't talk to him, which hurts his feelings rather. Black Ice Crystal brings him little treats like frog's legs, and Le Beau Noir does appreciate this, but what he really wants is a proper French mate.
