Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Mountainy likes to visit this friendly city called Aurabaum to observe and record humans in their habitat. They don't seem to mind a bronze dragon carefully trundling through the streets, carrying paper and quills wherever she goes. She often visits the park in the middle where many humans hang out, much like the motley dragons in Mountainy's own clan. There's no end to the things humans get up to. The most interesting of the regulars at Aurabaum Park is an adult male whose name sounds like a click-buzz (Mountainy does her best to Mountaincize names, but it can be hard). He's almost always dressed in just a white shirt and riveted trousers and does a lot of work outdoors and is helpful to others. He makes "deliberate" movements while working, and, oddly, he washes his clothes while still wearing them. For some reason, many females are enthralled when he does this. Mountainy has six double-sided pages of this human's behavior and comes up with her own theories on why he acts strangely.
