Swallowtail Dragons are graceful and quick flyers, much like their namesake bird. They are capable of precise aerial acrobatics, and can reach very high altitudes. Because of this, humans observing these dragons are often astonished at how large they are when confronted up close. A Swallowtail’s diet consists of insects and small mammals plentiful in temperate forests. These dragons are also made remarkable by their paper-thin wing membranes, which allow light to pass through, creating an astonishing effect on starry nights.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Topazzia FlightSong (after the gemstone: Topaz) was adopted into the clan cave as its 145th carrot, her seed found by the Clan Mother alongside Axiniteph's earthen and speckled one. Like him, she is one of the first of her kind to grace the skies with her presence. She is agile, graceful and dexterous, spiraling through the air in dazzling feats of aerial acrobatics which leave all who see her speechless in her wake. The wind and even heaven itself seem to sing in reflection of her stunning twists of flight, the harmony of freedom and all that entails, dancing on her wings as she effortlessly glides through the air. Although she spends most of her time far from the hard packed ground, her landings are pure fancy, it is only then can one truly understand and respect her grace for she easily dwarfs many of the other clan carrots. In many ways, she seems restless, as if longing for a missing tone that, as of yet, escapes her. Perhaps in time, her flight will gain its missing note!
