Aww... It’s a cute baby drake. It has the colors of a bright summer day.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young drakes are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own.

Painted has the adorable habit of smearing crushed berries and ground up minerals on unsuspecting (and often napping) dragons. He defends himself by saying that he is 'making masterpieces to be appreciated by all'. His small size and sunny personality makes it easy to slip around adult dragons. However, his charming appearance hides a relentless cruel streak. He can get away with almost anything, including attempted murder. He tried to push one of the younger hatchlings off a cliff when it taunted his messy splatters of paint. Fortunately, another dragon intervened before the hatchling was seriously injured, but after the incident, Sunshine's paintings became occasionally rather...disturbing.
