Lumina Dragons received their names from their highly reflective scales, which—at times—seem to glow. They are vain, always strutting about and preening incessantly; if one of their scales has so much as a scratch or a defect, they’ll remove it. Luckily, their scales grow back quickly, and each new growth is more beautiful than the last. These narcissistic dragons live in small groups and prefer to surround themselves with beauty. The females guard their territory and eggs while the males search for vegetation to eat.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Southern Avenue was named after the street at which his egg was found. Actually, he was picked up from a refuse mound by South Street, but his caretakers, unfamiliar with the town, misremembered it as Southern Avenue. Due to the numerous cracks and stains on the shell, the caretakers figured the egg must've been dropped, so they paid a very close eye to the hatchling for the next decade or so, looking for any developmental defects. They quickly noticed their ward's excessive grooming and conceit, and they could swear he smelled rosy, too, but it was all probably normal for a lumina dragon. Southern Avenue didn't understand why his parents gave him so much attention compared to his siblings, though the hugging and staring weren't all that bad. He's glad he's considered normal because he wouldn't know what to do if he were not, and he likes to announce that he's normal whenever he introduces himself to another being.
