Tercorn Dragons are typically friendly and peaceful in nature. Most individuals are eager to help, and show highly-cooperative behavior. However, they can easily feel disrespected by those unfamiliar with their customs. While the three long horns protruding from their heads may be fearsome, they serve mostly to scare off aggressors, and if an attack is deemed necessary for self-defense, it is never deadly in intention. Tercorn Dragons are quite social and active within their aquatic environment, but rarely emerge on land if not caring for unhatched offspring in hidden coastal caves.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Wellman is found down wells a lot. Once people find out he isn't stuck or drowned, they're a little annoyed at him and some worry that he has contaminated the water, but when he climbs out, he makes up for the inconvenience by helping a person or few with chores. He will make up for it because he doesn't take no for an answer. As for why he jumps into wells in the first place, Wellman says he's looking for something important in there. Once, when he was sick and lying on shore, someone or something once reached through a nearby puddle and gave him an epiphany, and before the entity retreated back through the puddle's surface, it told him to go search for a particular thing that is found in a well. Wellman isn't certain whether he's looking for it in a specific well or just any well. Most everyone he talks to about this quest he's on think he's delusional.
