Aww... It’s a cute baby drake. It’s unusually aggressive.

Young drakes are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own.

Roadway is named such because its appearance reminded the name giver of a road made of tar and sand, and people know it's the same drake because this one has a scarred neck and is missing a couple of toes. The small team who (attempt to) study various drake breeds aren't keen about disturbing a solitary adult tatterdrake, so they hope to learn from watching a hatchling and its mother. The task still hasn't been easy: nobody can ascertain whether Roadway is female or male, although the team have noted some specific traits such as nesting habits and the like. And Roadway seems to like roast stalactite worm.
