Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

With intellect from beyond her years, Hermione is easily frustrated when met with patronizing or sexist remarks. It was in the Christmas season that she met Artemis, a royal blue with acuity of mind to match her own, who enthralled her with tales of the projects he worked on as a scientist. Though her wings had but recently grown in, Hermione made a life choice to become a scientist like him, and Artemis was overjoyed at her choice to join him, granting her a place at his laboratory. Yet upon further discussion, she was horrified to find the experimentation was on dragons themselves, and fled the world of science, moving to the high society, but the featherbrained ways of the elite repulsed her, so she was drawn back to Artemis by the need for knowledge. Hermione loves Artemis, yet her heart cracks every time she sees him with his wife, for she knows that they would be better suited together. And deep down, in a part of him he would not like to admit too, he knows it too.
