Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It seems to want to go outside whenever there is a storm.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Pnictogen loves the smell of well-worn roads that have been rained on. She finds the combination of human devices, fabrics, and a fresh rainstorm has a wonderful "oily, inventive" odor. Her little wings can't bring her airborne for more than a couple of seconds, so she jogs along her favorite large road or sits at a particularly strong-smelling section. Her father keeps worrying and telling her to stay away from places built or frequented by humans, but like the typical youngster, Pnictogen scoffs at the warnings and sneaks out of their home anyway.
