Avatars of Change are unpredictable, exuberant dragons whose unique connection to magic has saturated their entire bodies. It is said that possessing one of their iridescent scales can change one’s fate, and many have sought the favor of these dragons hoping to receive a scale as a gift.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Guardites are extremely powerful and revered dragons in the cave, who nobody dares challenge. The Guardite of Difference is a mysterious dragon, and somewhat of an oddity. He does not appear often, but when he does, he often gives a scale to someone he deems "worthy". This is said to change their fate, but he never says how it will. The mystery of it all scares some dragons and excites others. It is debated in the cave whether he is a welcome face, or a dangerous enemy.
