Storm Dragons are the masters of the skies. They are excellent fliers and land only to rest and eat. In addition, they have full control of the weather. They are very hot-tempered and easily angered. They will attack any human that bothers them, conjuring strong winds and dangerous lightning.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dark Grizzle is very observant. She uses these powers of observation to get ahead at the nest. She knows Firey Claws is always worried about the other dragons, so she acts sick sometimes just to get more food from her. She knows Precocious Blue is always wanting to talk, so she listens to him in exchange for flying lessons. Debra Smith always needs someone to help her preen, so Dark Grizzle helps her look beautiful as long as Debra remembers to introduce her to other fancy dragons at the Feather Wing Weyr. Dark Grizzle also knows that Lil' Fuzzles still has anxiety from time to time and covers for her on occasion in order to get help with managing her storm magic. By knowing her peers and bettering herself in these ways, she hopes to become the leader of the nest as a political power. A leadership role of this sort, beyond the mere mothering of Firey Claws will be needed as the nest continues to grow in number and prestige.
