Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Mystic doesn't live the glamorous life filled with the drama and adventure that other of her clan mates live through, but she in content with her existence. Every day she goes out into the desert, searching for the rare medical herbs with the healers need to help those with dire injuries. Many of her searches result in nothing, but the occasions that she does find a rare plant, and can bring it back to help a sick dragon gives her the strength to keep going. Unfortunately, the constant exposure to dust storms has led to Mystic's eyes becoming easily irritated, so she carries around a herbal poultice with her which soothes the irritation. Some of the healers have suggested she tries wearing a form of glass casing around her eyes in order to protect her from dust particles, but the glass blowers have yet to develop a casing that is strong enough to withstand the desert storms. Mystic has been frequently advised that she should change career, but she loves her job too much.
