Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Don't Do That Again, along with some of his close family, like to visit and drift with humans. Many of them swim up to the settlement by the lake and simply lie around in the water, confident their magical abilities and athleticism will protect them if any of the humans aren't very nice. There is this weirdo human child who brazenly wades to Don't Do That Again, "straightens" him out, and lies atop him, cooing and stroking his head. He doesn't know if he should tolerate this behavior but does so anyway.
