Fire Gem Dragons are a colorful, flamboyant breed often found in hot climates, particularly around active volcanoes. Their broad tails store the flames they breathe, which are colored by the heavy amount of minerals in the water they drink. These dragons come in a variety of colors, and will collect shiny trinkets and stones that match their own coloration. Despite their hoarding tendencies, though, Fire Gem dragons are social and will often congregate in groups and show off their collections while fawning over the stones their friends and rivals have gathered, occasionally arranging trades.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Of all the blue fire gems in the small West Caldera 2 community, Inmost is the most inward-looking and often appears to be lost in thought. This occurs even during tasks that require concentration. It's kind of funny sometimes watching a vacant-looking dragon who still manages to perform a precise spell or soak in the information written on a lengthy mandate. There's always a new philosophical concept or thought experiment that Inmost wants to share, and audiences range from a throng of viewers at Warm Crust Hall to an arbitrarily picked stranger from the marketplace. It isn't easy for friends and neighbors to explain to strangers what's going on in their colleague's mind, but they can say that Inmost is not egotistical or inattentive, merely self-aware and perhaps playing dumb a little bit to catch them off-guard.
