Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Grier is slightly bulkier than the average black dragon, with uncannily hard scales. As these traits lend themselves well to physical combat, he has developed those skills well, neglecting his magical abilities in the process (although he still retains mediocre talent in this area.)

  The scales on his underbelly are plate-like, with a dull metallic cast, while the scales of his upper body are sparsely flecked with a pale gold overtone, likely due to his gold dragon mother. His wing membranes, too, hint at a gold dragon parent, as they are veined with pale gold streaks. However, his coloration in no way hampers his ability to travel undetected at night, as the coloration and pattern of these markings only serve to better break up his outline.

  Grier is mistrustful by nature, but nearly overcomes this aspect of his personality when dealing with the other dragons of his drove (most of which he considers close acquaintances, rather than friends). He enjoys Florentas's and Kae's company,
