Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Some dragons love the names they're given that are a combination of their parents'. Others, however, don't really do. Ert, as he calls himself, absolutely hates his name, stemming from his Alt. Black father.  He wishes that instead he could have been named after his mother, Agrona's Shining Star. The connotation his name carries implies he transports rum when in fact he does not, and absolutely hates it.

Therefore, Ert instituted the rule that anyone who calls him his full name will be attacked with the full extent of his Black Dragon fighting prowess. Quite a pricey toll, but it worked like a charm. Very few of Helix's dragons would dare to fight an adult black. Over time, most dragons got used to calling him Ert as well.
