Almerald Dragons are an unusual species. They have gem-like protrusions along their spine that brighten and darken depending on their mood. In addition, their body temperature grows warmer during periods of excitement, and cooler during darker moods such as anger or depression; as such, it is fairly easy to read an Almerald’s emotions. Their mood can change quickly at times, going from calm to angry in a matter of seconds. If their anger becomes bad enough they can become a frightening opponent. Adults are not normally high in energy, so they hunt infrequently and prefer to lazily consume large quantities of fruits and nuts.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Answer is a jovial, excitable, and kind captain of the 12th Division of the Crule Legion of Suns. Some dragons in the unit find he's a little too trusting, but he works on the principle that to be trustworthy, one must be willing to trust. His second-in-command is almost always around to steer him out of getting scammed, for which he is very thankful. She, like the others, admires him for his optimism and humor as well as his strength as captain, so she's happy to keep helping. Though Answer is slender, he hits like a much larger dragon and can knock the wind out of something thrice his size. He loathes killing and only does so as part of his duty, and after a conflict, he dwells on his so-called unfortunate targets as he spends the next hour gobbling vegetation to replenish energy. On days when Crule seems a bit shaky and he has to consider what he can do, he has plans to move to the mountains beyond and become a farmer.
