Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
Oblast is very uneasy about a vague but terrifying thing, but she doesn't really know what. It's as if this great force has a terrible plan in store for her, and as she grew, the worries she felt grew as well. Now, this scary unknown thing is frequently at the forefront of her minds. She has entertained the possibility that someone is toying with her heads, probably just to see if they could instill fear in two brains at once, but no matter how vigilant she is, she cannot find any evidence that this is the case. Oblast is often seen lying motionless in the frigid water, not in wait for prey but seemingly petrified with something she can't even describe. Her parents and peers have given up trying to figure out what is wrong with her, and the adults have even warned that if she keeps showing weakness like this, she'll be eaten.
