Daydream Dragons are the hosts of daydreams and fantasies. They spend the majority of their time sitting on clouds, dropping daydreams down into the minds of people passing by. Humans who live near Daydream Dragons must be especially careful not to let their thoughts wander, or they could end up spending hours or even days in a trance-like waking dream state.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Aaron is the kind of dragon no one wants around. Not because he's malicious, or because he's annoying, but because his favorite option is to do nothing. This actually can be traced back to when he was just a little hatchling just learning how to create daydreams, or day-mares.

When Aaron was little, he was exposed to a lot of nasty things—the Cave was just beginning to form a hierarchy, so there was a lot of violence and fighting, even among the hatchlings. He noticed that the weak were bullied, and that the ones who tried to help out were quickly ganged up on and defeated. The adult dragons would fight with anyone who dared to so much as look at them funny, and would usually take advantage of the kind. This was because they were insecure about their position in the Cave, but little Aaron didn't know this, so he grew up—knowing full well that he was weak—avoiding contact with others. When he had to choose a side, he often ran away.

To him, inaction is the best option.
