Frilled Dragons are smaller than most other breeds, but when threatened, they stretch out their wings and frills to appear larger. They generally do not like to fight and prefer hiding to confrontation. Frilled dragons live in small groups and often band together to scare off potential threats. Males also use their frills as a way to attract mates, with those displaying the “best” frills being more likely to breed.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Keigyn is a fairly different kind of frilled dragon. He is smaller than most, barely twice the size of a mint. But he doesn't act like it much. Keigyn has barely been seen with his frills down since he was a hatchling, when his frills were still just growing and no more than little lumps on his side.

Originally, many clan members thought something was wrong with him. Like he couldn't put his frills down. No one ever questioned him about it, afraid he would disappear as he did when a stranger passed by and did just that. Then, after a swimming session, as he came out of the water, his frills were down. Though not for long.

This was rumored to be because of his past. A wild black frequently dropped by, his biological brother in fact. He was massive and very much a bully. He always teased Keigyn about his size.

He hasn't been seen since, but Keigyn doesn't take any chances. He's always on guard, his massive frills spread out like a shield.
