Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Raven, like the other Black Dragon members of her family, is a highly intelligent and skilled hunter. However, where she differs is her general demeanor and attitude. Raven is quite the depressing dragon, always seeming upset and mad at the world. She'll frequently snap at everyone around her, leading her to be mostly solitary. She does retain a certain amount of respect for her mother, Amaya, for her incredible strength as a warrior, but she only acknowledges this by being slightly less nasty toward her. Despite her cactus-like, prickly exterior, Raven does have a heart and cares about her family whether she is aware of it or not. Despite constantly snapping at her many Speckle-Throated nieces and nephews, she wouldn't hesitate to defend them if ever they came into real peril. She also never seems interested in killing her foes, not if she can help it anyway. Despite her attitude, Raven is a valued member of the Starfall-Whitefeather clan. Though she won't admit it, she is proud.
