Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. But... where are its legs?

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

K-Pg is a "magic serpent sent from the GoN", according to the human temple visitors. They're not entirely wrong, and it's not their fault they've never seen a young xenowyrm before. Those humans love to give him food and fond pats in return for making sprouts and seeds grow faster, something he can do with so little effort that it feels like cheating. He also lies atop a terrae-sized pile of gold. He can't tell if they're all real—maybe some of them are just rocks under illusion or whatever—but how shiny they are! What admiration and praise the humans give him! K-Pg has everything he ever wants... except knowledge that his parents are somewhere and maybe miss him. But that's an inconsequential detail compared to the good life he has now.
