Melismor Dragons are social, good-natured dragons that enjoy the shelter of forested areas. They live in close-knit family groups, burrowing deep into the earth and creating extensive, winding networks of underground burrows. While rarely seen at the surface, Melismor Dragons, when encountered, are known to be fiercely loyal and protective, yet kind when their families aren’t in any danger. These dragons are omnivorous, but most of their diet consists of plants, especially tender roots, and honey is a favored treat they’ll often bring back to their burrows to share.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

KxVe7 prefers to be called KxVe7. He will not answer to Huffley, although his parents and siblings still occasionally try it. "'KxVe7' is my string," he explains to those curious enough to ask. And it's important that the symbols are pronounced correctly, too—a mindful and a mouthful. Few understand what string he's talking about and why that's so important, but his mixed community has plenty of eccentric individuals, and everyone just accepts each other's quirks. Coincidentally, KxVe7's hoard is very stringy: he has a bunch of yarn, rope, vine, and other such objects in his spacious den, which he doesn't bother to organize except when there are special guests. Those who think they've never seen anything more tangled than KxVe7's hair change their minds when they lay eyes on his hoard.
