It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Pifiz may not have one of the most prestigious occupations in the clans, but he is proud of it anyway. Pifiz works as a guard, patrolling the cave and the nearby lands which are cultivated for crops in order to protect the dragons who are growing there. Sometimes Pifiz finds this a bit dull, as he knows that he won't be venturing out to any dangerous territories as an escort for a party of dragons, but he knows his importance in protecting those who are unable to defend themselves. Every morning Pifiz patrols an area of the border to check for any unusual activity, and then is assigned to a group of workers, whom he will remain with for the rest of the day. While a normal day has little activity for him, his main job keeping watch for any dangers, Pifiz enjoys the gratitude of those he helps, even occasionally joining in with the foraging on a particularly slow day. The thought that he is giving the dragons the security to carry on is all he needs to go to work every day.
