It’s an undead baby dragon, produced by a failed magical spell. It probably would be cute if it weren’t partially decayed.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Kunza is the first zombie in the cave to survive her rebirth unscathed. Her young mind sheltered her from any psychological issues that could have come from it, and her physical state is argued to be better than from when she was just an ordinary dragon. As a result of this she is often questioned about her experience and lifestyle for the research of the scientists, and does so willingly, as she bears no resentment of what has happened to her. Kunza has also done a lot to remove the stigma of being an undead dragon, with even the most skeptical protester admitting that Kunza seems perfectly happy with her day to day life. Scientists have constantly tried to replicate the success that they had with Kunza, but to no avail, which is frequently cited as a reason why the 'unreliable' Zombie Project should be discontinued. Kunza appeared happy to live with those who had turned her until she was adopted by Mortis, the first adult Zombie dragon, leaving the Zombie project behind her for good.
