Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Beautiful Gem is a very vain and selfish dragon. She spends hours by a lake gazing into her reflection trying to fix her imperfections. If The Beautiful Gem is not by the lake then she is stealing other dragon's gems because she is entranced with their beauty, but she is too vain to dig for her own. If attacked by a random dragon, she would squeal at the horror of his or her dirty claws touching her scales, and then she would burst into tears. This would make the random dragon feel really sad, and then it would apologize and hastily retreat.
