Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

She is sort of the beta in her family, but still pretty nasty and temperamental. Apollyon gets this behavior more from her older siblings than anyone else. She is generally ignored by her more adventurous siblings as well as her tepid father. She acts all edgy and self-important to distract herself from feeling left out of her siblings' antics. Instead, and since her father rather fears her, Apollyon tends to stick close to her mother, Equestria, for companionship and comfort, leading her to really be a lot like her father: blindly loyal to the manipulative nature of her Horse mother. Despite hating her older siblings, Apollyon knows way better than to say a word against them while they're around. Ahpuch and Mare are much stronger than her, and Mare in particular will even bully and beat her to take out her aggressions. Luckily, Equestria is quick to stop any of this, further cementing Apollyon's dependency on her. Apollyon really is a Hellfire tomboy!
