Failed attempts to experiment with magic often result in transforming dragons into these hellish creatures. They are extremely dangerous, and will mindlessly kill any living creature without regard to friend or foe.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Once upon a time, a human too curious for its own good read a book about a mysterious, rare breed of dragon called a Zombie Dragon. To create a fully mature Zombie, an adult dragon would first need to be killed. The human then obtained a four runt Spitfire eggs, and raised the four dragons to adulthood. The four dragons were raised with knowledge of Zombies, and were conditioned with the hope that they would see the idea of becoming one. Two of the Spitfires fulfilled this hope, and after some sorting out, each bore a living child with one of the other two to carry on their legacy; whether or not they "survived" the process. Shortly before All Hallow's Eve, the human put them both to the blade. Neither resisted.

It worked. The ritual went perfectly on both of them. But the children don't fully understand this. This Zombie's daughter is constantly mourning the loss of her mom while fearing the ferocious, murderous creature of the night that lurks near her nest.
