Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has bright blue eyes, and is as clumsy as any other hatchling, but it never seems to get injured.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Smooch was given as a gift to 5ilence as a little egg. However, when he had nearly hatched, his caretaker left him in the care of some less than perfect dragon babysitters while off on business. His egg was badly mishandled, and when his caretaker returned, he had hatched, but was very ill, near death. The only way his caretaker knew to save him was to use a spell that would protect him from sickness, but stop him from aging. Now, he is very timid and shy, and never speaks.
