Dark green dragons, once they mature, appear to become an entirely different species. However, this isn’t true. Rather, they burrow underground and get nutrients from their vines. These vines are sometimes referred to as Dragon Grass. These dragons are very violent, and will use their vines to capture, kill, and eat anything that moves, as well as nearby plants. Luckily, their range is limited and they cannot use magic. Dark green dragons tend to be easy to spot since they usually kill all plants around them and thus are usually surrounded by a large clearing.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Misfit Predator is one of Phoenix's dragons. The wayward daughter of Pelt of Ferns and I'll Tear You Apart, she is a shy, hostile creature, and though she had a pleasant childhood, she has an inexplicable rottenness to her nature that has made her an exile even among her own clan. She despises anything with a heartbeat, and after she ran from Phoenix's cave in her mid-adulthood, she made herself into a fiend with the people she terrorized.

After she was driven out of her first nest by a band of torch-carrying, pitchfork-bearing farmers, Misfit reentered Phoenix's territory and settled there, hidden from the world, to continue her era of killing. Upon learning of her location, Phoenix herself went to the prodigal creature, hoping to make amends with her, but her success was meager at best. Even now, Phoenix is the only living thing that Misfit will allow to enter her clearing, and Phoenix has nearly lost her life to the dragon's temper more than once.
