Ridgewing Dragons live just below the snow level on the upper slopes of mountains. They are a friendly, playful breed and enjoy dancing in wind currents near their homes or plummeting down into valleys from great heights. Their wings, by far their most striking feature, grow in fin-like ridges along their backs. While their bodies lack markings to blend better with their surroundings, a ridgewing’s wings have bright markings in the colors of the flowers that grow in their mountain habitat. Occasionally different-colored individuals can be found, but they are rare because their striking coloring offers little protection.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

When Iap was just a wee adolescent, she had a dangerous amount of curiosity and bravery, the source of a large number of close calls. She once went on a Quest to Find an Identity, which involved traveling by foot around the mountainside (because flying was so passe). It terminated soon after it started when Iap became enthralled with some pieces of cloth on a rope. She tried every one on, including the socks (which went over her snout), chattering joyfully and taking no notice of the humans in the encampment watching and wondering what to do. Iap eventually stole a tan-colored cape from the fabric buffet, wore it around her neck, and flew home. Unable to bring themselves to harm a young dragon, the humans simply watched her leave. Iap has kept the cloth through adulthood, now a dusty grey-brown, held together via magic. Much more careful and withdrawn than she was as a youth, she doesn't travel much and has never had another opportunity to steal more clothes.
