Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. You find it odd that the hatchling doesn’t move at all during the day, but at night its colors change and it is full of energy.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

The hatchling known as Ossification is yet another victim of the unnamed wizard who scuttles like a plague across the dragon lands.  Most victims have stories similar to this poor little Nocturne, coming from a large, unruly family, without the care and attention little dragons need.

Ossi was feeling frustrated, and wanting to leave home when the wizard appeared, offering travel and unlimited opportunities for wealth and fame.  All he had to do was learn for a while with the wizard, and he would have all the power to control the rest of his life.  All he had to do has try this potion...

Fortunately, he was found by travelers who brought him to the infirmary at Verdant.  While it is unknown how to undo the spell, Ossi is now safe among the little dragons at the Mint Garden School for Hatchlings, and has gained a dear friend in Calci, another victim of the same wizard.
